ALPACA OWNERS ASSOCIATION AND CALPACA
We are proud to be a part of these alpaca associations
In 2013, the two organizations (AOBA, The Alpaca Owners
and Breeders Association and ARI. The Alpaca Registry Inc.) conducted most of
the affairs for the U.S. alpaca industry for 20 years voted to merge the two
organizations. This now singular entity is responsible for the DNA testing,
registration and transfer of alpacas, the show system, the marketing of the
alpaca industry here in the U.S, the promotion of alpaca, its fiber and its
products, among its numerous other smaller tasks.
The AOA Registry, The AOA Alpaca Registry, is the most
accurate pedigree and parentage validation registry globally. Verified blood
and parental history are the processes of registration.
The Show System: The show system is an integral part of
the social and competitive component of the industry. The AOA Show System is
arguably the best livestock show system in the world, and it's secured this
position because of its foundation in its world-class judge training program.
Alpaca lovers from all over the world come to AOA to learn the Art and Science
of Alpaca judging and receive its highly valued certification.
Marketing: To the best of its ability, AOA markets the
alpaca business, alpaca fiber and alpaca products to those interested in it.
An Executive Director, entire office staff, a volunteer
Board of Directors and volunteer committee members service The Alpaca Owners
Association. These committee members serve to produce various essential
attributes which the organization requires. The organization is also operated
well by its regional affiliates. Most regions of the country have a companion,
with which residents may also choose to participate. Plateau Breeze Ranch is a
member of several affiliates around the country.
The California Alpaca Breeders Association (Calpaca) is the
best place to find alpaca farms in California and beyond. In California's
tradition as a pioneer of progress, Calpaca was the first-and is the oldest
regional alpaca association in the Northern Hemisphere and has been a leader in
the American alpaca industry since 1989.
Calpaca represents alpaca owners, breeders, and
enthusiasts. They promote the well-being of alpacas and education of the public
about alpacas, alpaca fiber, and alpaca products. Calpaca supports each other through
shared information and experiences, and host meetings, speakers and shows for
the benefit of members and the public. They invite you to join them and become part
of a supportive network of caring and helpful alpaca owners.
Here at Plateau Breeze Ranch, we pride our industry and these associations. All the alpacas produced here at Plateau Breeze Ranch are AOA
DNA tested and registered.
